A brisk walk outdoors can also combat feelings of anxiety or depression by releasing endorphins, often referred to as “feel-good” hormones.
How do you prepare for a winter walk in terms of clothing and gear?
Layering is key for winter walks. I start with moisture-wicking base layers, then add a warm mid-layer like fleece or a down jacket, and finish with a waterproof, insulated outer layer to protect from the wind.
I will never forget warm socks, a hat, gloves, and sturdy waterproof boots with good traction. And I always bring a fresh thermos of something nice and warm to keep my spirits up during my walk!
