What are the Dorset Business Awards (DBAs)?

The DBAs celebrate the achievements of Dorset’s businesses, large or small across the county and across all sectors. The awards reward the county’s high achievers, our inspirational leaders and our unsung heroes.
The UK Health Insurance Investing in Dorset Award was a brand new category for 2016 and we are delighted to be sponsoring this category once again in 2018 which so closely reflects our own passion for supporting local businesses.

Why the Investing in Dorset Award?

Signature Catering Group - 2018 Winner

Signature Catering Group, based in Ringwood, is a catering company with an extraordinary passion to deliver true hospitality, whilst ensuring raw ingredients and other products and services are purchased from other local businesses. 

They also run two restaurants, ‘Seasons Restaurant’ and ‘Marshall’s on the Green’, both of which take advantage of the abundance of resources in their local area to support other local businesses.

The judges were particularly impressed that in order to stay true to their local suppliers, Signature Catering create menus, including the children’s menu, based on the local produce available, and will never substitute to a lower quality product if the main ingredients are not available.

Huge congratulations to everyone at Signature Catering and very well done to our other two finalists too, A-One Insurance Group and Summer Lodge Country House Hotel. Each of the finalists showed a really passionate determination to build relationships locally and purchase goods and services from within a few miles of their business wherever possible.

Investing in Dorset Award checklist

Your entry should tell the judges about:

  • Your firm’s vision which supports doing business locally;
  • Details of the goods and services you buy locally;
  • Examples of how you communicate your vision of buying locally internally to your employees and externally to suppliers and customers; and
  • Details of any initiatives developed over the last 12 months to create relationships with other Dorset companies.
